Recently, we received a call for help from Qilu First Experimental Primary School. The teachers discovered an injured great crested grebe. [pì tī] The great crested grebe is a common water bird in the Qingdao area and is relatively common in waters such as Tangdao Bay. Because its stress response is quite strong, after a preliminary on-site examination, we placed it in a transport cage to minimize stimulation and brought it back to Animal World for a thorough examination. Taking this opportunity, we also conducted a lesson on bird rescue at Qilu First Experimental Primary School, covering what precautions to take when rescuing animals and how to handle injured wildlife.
